Verifying Your Google Business Profile
Google often requires a short video to verify your Google Business Profile.
The video needs to prove three things:
- You are a real business
- You are at the location you claim
- You actually control the business
The whole recording should only take about a minute. Here is exactly how to prepare and record it.
Step 1: Get Ready Before Recording
Set everything up first so the video flows in one continuous take.
At your computer:
- Open the backend of your website to show edit access
- Place a printed document with your business name next to the mouse and keyboard
At your vehicle:
- Put your business card and driver's license on the passenger seat
- Put your car magnet on the side of the truck, covering any existing logos
- Open the garage door or trunk to show your work tools (if possible)
Step 2: Record the Video Outside
Record this as one continuous video. Do not cut or edit.
Prove you control the vehicle:
- Start at the truck or van with the magnet on the side
- Hold up your key fob, showing it and the vehicle
- Hit lock and unlock so the headlights blink and it honks
Prove your identity:
- Open the passenger door and show your business card and driver's license with matching name
- Show tools in the back of the vehicle, or show tools in the garage
- Close the passenger door and lock it
Prove your location:
- Show a street sign if near a corner or intersection (if possible), plus your left and right neighbors
- Walk to the house or office
- Show the house numbers
- Show the door is locked by trying to open it
- Unlock the door and walk inside
Prove you control the business online:
- Show the website edit access on your computer screen
- Switch to the other window or tab showing the live website
- End the video
That's It
One clean take covering the vehicle, your ID, your tools, the location, and your website access gives Google everything it needs to verify your profile.
